What I Wore: Traveling, Part 1

June 29, 2014 / 5 Comments

It’s been a crazy week over here.  I traveled across the country from Arizona to North Carolina/Virginia for a family wedding.  My months in Arizona made me forget how green and humid the east coast is–I feel like I flew to the freakin’ jungle.  Anyway, I still managed to sneak a few pics in between the chaos…

I am always cold, and planes are some of the worst offenders.  I actually had a second vinyasa stashed in my purse that I used as a blanket in flight.  Believe it or not, I was still a little cold on the stupid plane.  Since I was traveling to a fairly hot climate, I wanted to pack layers, so this was my solution for an outfit that would keep me reasonably warm that would also be wearable during my trip.  I packed for my 12-day trip without checking a bag, so maximum outfit efficiency was key (a post about my strategy and how I managed to pack all this is in the works!).

My weird face because I don’t take enough selfies to have the faintest clue how to look at a camera

I added another pair of speeds to the family last week and have worn them several times already.  I went to my old favorite lulu store, and accidentally matched one of the eds (who also happens to know me).  Considering these aren’t a recent pair, I found the coincidence highly amusing.

My mom lives on the river and has a pair of kayaks, so she took me out for a little while one morning.  I have to say, a sports bra and speed shorts is the best sports “bikini” for stuff like this.  While we were out, my mom–ever the biologist at heart–spotted a large bird up high in a pine tree (which is what I’m looking at in the photo).  We lingered nearby for a little while, waiting for it fly out of the tree so we could get a look.  Turns out it was a bald eagle!  So majestic! …’Merica!

My mom’s house on the river makes for great photo ops.  The dock, however, does not make for great headstands.  On the plus side, I didn’t fall in!

Infused a little street style into my lulu.  I like the solid speeds for casual wear since they don’t totally scream “I’m going for a run but my shoes didn’t get the memo”.  The v-neck swiftly matches the line of the v-neck cardi nicely, plus the black cardi and the nude shoes help keep the brighter colors from being too overwhelming.  Also, I love the fact that the gold accents on the sandals match the gold accents on the cardi buttons.
