Video Post: How to Reuse Lululemon Shoppers for Mailing Packages

June 26, 2015 / 24 Comments

What to do with too many lululemon shopping bags: how to repurpose them for mailing packages

Yesss, the day has come!  As I’ve hinted at over the past few weeks, I’ve finally made and published my first YouTube video.  This is a whole new world for me and I’m still learning, but I’m happy to be able to share my first creation.

In this video tutorial, I’ll show you how I re-purpose my lululemon shopping bags to ship small packages (usually the lulu I’ve sold to a new home).  Shoppers are flexible, lightweight, and durable, which actually makes them pretty handy for mailing.  I have like 10 zillion of these bags, like most of you probably do, but it feels wasteful to me to just throw them out when they get to be too much.  This is a good way to put them to use and keep them from overpopulating my house.  Plus, the cost of bubble mailers or other packaging material can really add up, but these are free!  Basically, it’s a win-win-win.

Here’s how I do it:

P.S. More videos will be coming soon!  You can subscribe to the AA youtube channel to stay in the loop.

I should do that! I have a million shoppers and my husband gets pissed off when he finds them tucked in drawers! ? LOL! Does a pair of speeds in a shopper really only weigh 5-6 oz? I don’t have a scale but I always pay for 6-7 ounces for speeds in a poly mailer because I don’t want to risk the package coming back to me.

Yeah rounding up is always a good idea! The speeds in this vid weighs out to 5 1/4 oz on my kitchen scale. That’s pretty much the same as if I had used a poly mailer.

Great idea! I need to start sending more packages asap so I can feel less guilty every time I look over at the absurd number of Lulu bags I have accumulated!

This is a fabulous idea, and your instructions were great. I’ll never use a poly mailer again!

Never thought to re-use shoppers as mailers. Great idea, and great video tutorial. Thanks!

You’re welcome! If you take the tape off you can actually still use the bag as a bag, too, then it’s the recipient’s problem to deal with. ;)

amazing tutorial and great idea! Have you tried using the larger bags? somehow lulu always ships me the big ones. I have used some for grocery shopping (surprisingly sturdy!) but then again I really dont need like 15 grocery bags *sigh* Sometimes I wished they gave me bra inserts instead of the bags hahah

Nope I’ve never used the larger ones. For bigger stuff, I usually find it easier to use a poly mailer or USPS flat rate packaging. I think the shoppers would be a bit ornery. It’d be great if at checkout they had a box that you could check to opt out of the bags.

This is a great idea! Thank you!

I also just bring my unused shoppers back into my local store. The girls always seem happy to take them.

I’ve heard some people say their stores won’t take bags back, so that seems to be pretty hit or miss. Definitely a good way to offload them if your store takes them, though!

i love the small bags for putting my dirty gym shoes in, they’re a snug fit in the bag which is perfect for them. Love this mailer idea too!

Yes! I can stuff my shoes and a tank and shorts in a small bag if I need a quick change of clothes. :)
