It finally happened: unicorn workout leggings! I’ve seen a few pairs floating around out there, but if I was going to get a pair of unicorns, I wanted them to be just right. Werkshop is my go-to brand for high quality printed workout bottoms and they finally released the unicorns this summer. I like Werkshop’s take on the unicorn design because it captures the fantastical elements of unicorns without going over-the-top, full-on Lisa Frank with it.
I debated for a while between the cropped and full length unicorns, but ultimately I settled on my tried-and-true crops. The pattern between the two versions are very similar, the unicorn is a bit larger on the full length leggings and has a little space below its hooves. I got my usual XS and they fit like my Werkshops always do.
Although Werkshop’s darker colors are always totally opaque, some of the lighter pairs are not. The lighter side of this pair can show through slightly in a bend/squat, so you might want to avoid anything dark or patterned underneath.
As usual, the pattern is incredibly vibrant with lots of little details. These aren’t just a unicorn pattern slapped on leggings, there’s clearly a lot of thought that went into these. The purple and blue pattern is easy to match with all sorts of top colors.
Speaking of matching, I decided to get the matching sports bra as well. The pattern on the bra doesn’t actually have a unicorn on it, but it coordinates with the background pattern. I wrote a more thorough review of Werkshop’s sports bras in this post. In brief, the bras offer light-to-medium support. The bras have the same firm but flexible feel as the leggings.

i got the full length and love them!
the new werkshop unicorn yoga mat is sure nice too… i kinda wish they made yoga mat-size towels instead of mats. i like several of the designs (and especially love the weighted ends to prevent rolling), but how many $100 yoga mats does a girl need?! i have a manduka pro and therefore feel like i don’t ever need to buy another mat ever (which is kind of the point of buying one of these $$ mats in the first place right?).

Haha yup, that’s definitely a problem with getting nice mats. I have a Manduka Pro also, but since yoga isn’t a primary workout for me, I definitely don’t use it often enough to justify more than one.

What is the rise like on these? It looks lower in the photos but I figured I’d ask. I have been wanting to try Werkshop for a while and I am in love with this print — I was so torn between these and K-deer stripes for my recent little birthday splurge gift to myself, but ultimately went with the K-deers because I like a really high waist for hot yoga. (Obsessed with those too, btw). But if these are at least a regular rise I think I will finally wind up caving, because I have always been a unicorn maniac and these are by far the best ones I have seen!

Hey Kaycee,
I’m sure Suzanne will respond, but I recently asked werkshop customer service about the fit differences between the crops and full length leggings and one of the things they mentioned is that the rise is different. Here is what they said in case it is useful:
“While the capris are a little more high-rise, going up to just below the belly button, the full-length pants do sit about an inch lower.”
Leslie says
I have both crops and full length. For me the rise between the two are comparable. I wouldn’t say it’s one inch but it’s more like half an inch difference. I’m on the petite side so both crop and full length hit me at my belly button. The crops hit the top part of my belly button and the full length hit the bottom part of my belly button.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
I’d say the rise is pretty “regular”–neither too high nor too low. It’s about an inch below my belly button, which is a bit lower compared to both K-Deer and lulu’s high-rise on me. Hopefully that and the other comments help. :)

The unicorns look amazing on you! They are the epitome of happiness and magic!

Thanks, I totally agree!! :)

Hi Suzanne! Is your Alala flyweight hooded tee in this post an XS or did you go with a S? I read your review on the previous version that was a S and you mentioned that it ran on the shorter side but this one looks a bit longer which is making me want to try one :-). How does the new version fit compare to the previous version? Thank you in advance for any insight that you can offer.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Yes, the current flyweight tee is indeed longer than the previous version! This one is about hip length. The one I’m wearing here is an XS, which is mostly fitted but definitely not tight. It’s kind of scrunched up in the photos in this post, but you can see other photos of how the XS fits in this post: http://www.agentathletica.com/k-deer-review-izzy-stripe-leggings-national-parks/ Hope that helps. :)
