If you liked lululemon’s reflective Black Friday capsule but didn’t love the sky-high prices, here’s a new pair of Nike crops that remind me a bit of lulu’s version. Nike’s are listed as “reflective silver”, though I can’t find any pics that show what the reflectivity actually looks like. These will only run you $85.
Speaking of Nike, these power speed tights have been all over the place on social media lately. The sporty geometry is true to Nike style. They’re available in quite a few colors, though they’ll set you back a cool $150.
One last Nike thing: the metcon 2 has arrived! I love my metcon 1’s (I wrote a full review here), as evidenced by the fact I’m wearing them in like 99% of the pics you see around here or on my Insta. So far, the volt/cool grey above is the only color released for women, and sadly it would only match like 2 of my outfits.
But, it’s not all bad news! If you’re cool with a $170 price tag and a wait of up to 5 weeks, you can now fully customize your own pair of metcon 2’s via NikeID. I’m actually thinking about doing it, since I’m not convinced they’re going to release a new color I absolutely love.
Ever heard of Maaji? I’ve seen them pop up in here and there, most recently at Nordstrom. Maaji’s style is really unique, incorporating over-the-top prints with a bit of a Middle Eastern flair. Here’s their rushed track capris and cyanne forest capris. Unfortunately, it’s not likely they’ll be on my “brands to review” list, because they only come in sizes S, M, or L. If these styles pique your interest, find more Maaji here.
Splits59 released a preview of their new spring collection. True to their style of late, the collection so far incorporate a few high-shine pieces, and a heaping helping of colorblocking. Shown: ryder noir tights and simone block print tights. See the whole spring preview (and preorder, if you so desire) right here.
This week in “totally unexpected brands on this list”, I spotted this seamless streaker hoodie by Brooks on Nordstrom and actually, I think it’s pretty cute! It’s also available in pink and seafoam. It’s only available in S/M/L, but seamless material like this usually runs pretty tight, so my hunch is that a small might also fit an XS.
A couple more notes
Lorna Jane is running a deal this weekend: $30 off on a purchase $150 or more. Use code FRIEND30.
Alala is running a special promo on their powermesh tights. They’re now marked down to $93. These are one of the few Alala pieces I haven’t tried, so I don’t have any feedback on these. Do note that they have an invisible zipper at the bottom, since that could be an issue if you’re short.
Lastly: don’t forget to enter my Sweaty Betty giveaway if you haven’t already! :)

That Brooks hoodie looks very similar to Lululemon’s rest less hoodie.

Yeah true, it’s definitely similar! Brooks doesn’t have the zip pocket and has the extra neck drawstring though.

Did you end up ordering the We Are Handsome tights? I ordered two different styles to try from Lord and Taylor because of a good price and easy return to my local store if necessary. I am so impressed with how comfortable and soft they are, but haven’t tested them at the gym yet. Curious to see if you try some out!!! Thanks for the great post, too. I don’t know if I’m willing to shell out 170 for Nike ID but I’m glad it’s and option now. I pass on so many Nike clothes because of the color Volt. It’s just too bright for me and I feel like they accent half of their decent stuff with it. :(
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
No, I ended up skipping out on them since I’ve bought so many tights lately. Thanks for the info though! I totally agree about volt. It’s super annoying since it matches almost nothing! >:
Bianca says
My Nike studio wraps have volt accents on them. It is small and subtle and I love them on that. On those new metcons, it is just too much volt.

There may be hope for you and Maaji yet! I have ordered from their swim line and tried out some of their dresses and Maaji runs small, really small, like I’m normally a small, but need a large in Maaji! Plus Nordstrom has free shipping and returns (yay!).
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Thanks for the info! I wonder if their activewear runs small too, or just the swimwear. I suppose first I have to decide if I actually like their style, haha.

The Brooks hoodie also come in purple too! Very cute, think i’ll be grabbing that one. I like wearing these types of tops for casual everyday wear since they are so comfortable!
Nike has stepped up their game (and their prices though) in their running tights. I’ve liked some of their prints more than what Lulu has put out (white wind chill pattern i’m talking to you!)
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Where did you see the purple? :)
Guest says
In a running store :)
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Ahh ok, maybe it’s in stores only, I didn’t see it anywhere online!
Wiccacat says
Maajii descriptions say the clothes run very small and to size up, so they might fit you…
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Hmm that’s odd–Nordstrom says they’re true to size (at least the activewear).

Really like the Brook’s hoodie. Their return policy is excellent as well, you can actually wear the item, and still return (return shipping is paid by them) it if you don’t like it.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Oh that’s awesome! Thanks for the tip. :)

This is what I saw: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/lakes-and-rivers-top/4238124?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=0
Maybe it’s only the swim gear.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Ah yeah, could be!

I’m excited to hear how you like the metcon 2s compared to the 1s if you end up trying them out :)
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Just placed my order for a customized pair! Decided I’d rather pay the extra $40 for a pair I LOVE instead of a pair that’s just ok. For something I wear almost every day, it’s worth it. They’re going to be gorgeous. I have to wait a while for them but I’ll review ASAP! :)
Bianca says
Can’t wait to see what you designed. I’ve debated using that feature for other Nike shoes. Such a great option!!!
BD says
OT, but I’m just glad to see a Nike tight on a natural looking body. I sometimes go directly to Nike’s site just to see if anything catches my eye, but the often heavily-photoshopped models are a total turnoff. The model for the reflective silver tights at least looks like a real human being to me.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
I’m not on Nike’s site too often so I didn’t really notice, but yeah, you’re totally right!
