Skinny Will Pants + Hyperstripe Power Y Tank + More

August 19, 2014 / 2 Comments

[Update on the racerback situation: there is a new comment from lulu staff on the heylululemon thread I mentioned earlier today saying that there are no plans to discontinue or change the CRB.  Figured as much.]

I believe these are inkwell slub denim skinny will pants, but that’s just a hunch as far as colorway goes. [Lululemon Classen Curve]

More pics of the sashico quilt wunder under crops.  I hadn’t seen a pic that showed this very well before, but it seems the hem of these are curved.  The stock pics from overseas agree.  Also, holy crap, how long are they on her??  Crops, my eye. [Lululemon Hyde Park Square]

Another small gripe about the sashico stuff: the traditional spelling (as in, the Japanese, where the inspiration is from) is sashiKo.  Both of the prints, sashico cross and sashico star, have been spelled with a c on the lulu website.  But now that patchwork-y WUs are titled “Wunder Under Pants *Sashiko”, even with the official color code saying “sashiCo cross inkwell rugged blue/inkwell/diamond dot inkwell black”.

Is it K or C, lulu?  Make up your mind!

Yeah, it’ll be strange to discontinue the CRB. Companies like Zara make the most profit on their basic range. It relies on the super trendy, limited run items to get customers to visit the store, who would then pick up a basic top or two. LLM sounds like they operate on the same model, but on an even more extreme basis, with hot items selling out in minutes. Pure madness but genius retailing as well.
Someone mentioned perhaps CRB often goes on WMTM for $29 and so, they might not be selling well. I think it’s just LLM producing an item at a normal volume for a change. At $29, I’m sure the retail markup is still high.

Meanwhile, rugged blue is such a pretty shade! I’m late to the LLM game and missed out on the blues in porcelain, puddle, beach blanket and all, and I hope this comes in the shorts or CRB. :)

I don’t think CRBs going to WMTM would be that strange or unusual. I mean, considering the volume of colors they put out, it’s inevitable that some won’t do so well. I would imagine that even the colors that do get marked down, most of the stock probably sold through at full price anyway. (Lulu sells 95% of their merch at full price, pretty insane numbers for retail.) And yeah, lulu definitely operates on a pretty extreme scarcity model. They seem to be still working toward finding the balance between too scarce and not scarce enough…

I agree that rugged blue is a nice shade, but it doesn’t seem like they’ve been using it a lot. I’d like to see more of that and also fuel green…
