My guess is that the orange “duck sauce” is evocative of duck a l’orange…
Agent Athletica says
I figured it’s referring to the little condiment packages you get with Chinese takeout: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duck_sauce

Duck sauce with a side of boom juice perhaps? ;)

*shudder*

wait, what’s with this duck sauce thread? (also, my phone wanted to type dick instead of duck. I’m not sure what kinda sauce that is
h|c says
ok I saw previous post and now duck sauce comments make sense.

I sense major backlash from the self righteous veg/vegan community against duck sauce. tofurkey sauce would have been more sensitive.
Also, like, are they that idiotic? Has no Lululemon employee ever had actual “peking” duck?! DUCK SAUCE IS PURPLE, Y’ALL.
Agent Athletica says
At least one kind of orange-ish duck sauce exists–the takeout kind, I mean, although if we’re picky it’s more gold than orange. I think something about papaya would’ve been well-suited to the color and less…bizarre.

Unappetizing across the board.
Jenn, I’m a vegan. I didn’t characterize anyone in a negative light. By definition you aren’t self righteous if you described yourself accurately. I don’t consider people who share my lifestyle brethren to the point that I wont call them out on being out-there with their choices. Nothing to get up in arms about, however if I offended you, excuse me.
Jenn @ Running on Lentils says
Thanks, Alex. Either I’m so far removed from the community or just all the vegans I know are not like those you know…we are all more of the “do what you can” Mark Bittman approach. I am probably more quiet in my beliefs than most…at a holiday party this week I asked the waiter over to whisper to him that I didn’t want dairy in my meal, even though all my coworkers know I’m vegan. They laughed & encouraged me to “let your freak flag fly high,” but that’s just not me.
Jenn @ Running on Lentils says
I’m vegan and share my reasons for that lifestyle only with those who ask, and I respect others’ food and lifestyle choices, even if I don’t agree with them. It’s unfortunate you’ve met others who aren’t that way, but please don’t characterize us all in such a negative light.

I want to see that white yogi crew sweater…I overlooked the others but really like the white one on the girl!
