Persu Collection is a small, independent brand that makes bags for folks with an active lifestyle who value multi-functional pieces. In the past, I’ve reviewed two of Persu’s duffel bags, the Tom bag and Jessica bag, both of which I love. Persu’s designs are always so thoughtfully designed with an endless list of features. I decided to fund their most recent Kickstarter a while back in order to get this Quila bag.

The Quila bag is a small everyday bag that can be used as a clutch, shoulder/crossbody bag, or hip belt bag. It’s small size is just large enough for the essentials.

This bag is only available in black. It’s primarily made of a nylon material, with vegan leather accents and super shiny gold hardware. The contrast red interior is also nylon. It’s simple but very elegant. The material is also easy to keep clean, though with it being black, it doesn’t show much dirt.

Although this bag is relatively small and simple, it’s well-designed. I like the subtle flat bottom that gives it enough structure to stand up on its own, even though it’s a mostly circular style.

In the main compartment, you can reasonably carry a phone, wallet, sunglasses, and keys. The interior has two open pockets for small items like lip balm, but isn’t large enough for a phone. On the side opposite of the slit pockets, there’s a zip pocket across the whole length of the bag for things like cash or cards. I also like the clip for a key ring, as shown in the photos. The main compartment is plenty large enough for my iPhone 11 Pro, which fits best turned on its long side (rotated 90 degrees from how its shown in the photos–I have it this way in photos just to show the size of the bag).

For more carrying options, the bag has a slot in the back to thread a belt through. It comes with its own belt strap, but it will fit any belt about 2″ or narrower. I’m not as much of a fan of how it looks as a belt bag, and the included belt strap on the tightest hole (without punching my own holes) is also a little bit larger than I’d prefer. But, it works in a pinch. Note that the belt strap is not the same as the shoulder strap, so you do need to keep track of two straps.

I didn’t have a small bag like this before, and I’m really happy with this purchase for simple errands and outings when I don’t have pockets to work with. It’s small size is also easy to throw in my luggage when I’m traveling without sacrificing much space.

At its current price of $79, the Quila bag is a very solid value. It’s a step up in quality from big box brands, but still quite affordable compared to many designers. Plus, you get features and versatility that you wouldn’t from more simplistic circle bags. You can get the Quila bag on Persu’s website.
