Thanksgiving is over, the first day of December is tomorrow–the holiday season is in full swing! While you’re decking your halls, here are some festive options for decking your closet, too.
1 | Zella “midnight” high-waist crops – Besides being a pretty shade of green, the cut-out details add something special to these crops. Comes in full length, too.
2 | Blanc Noir satin puffer vest – The lustrous red is too pretty to be limited to just the holidays.
3 | S’well metallic insulated water bottle – Anyone will want to stay hydrated with this beauty. By the way, these bottles make fantastic gifts.
4 | Alala captain crops – The silver paneling is subtle but festive.
5 | Vimmia “chance” leggings – The gold streak adds the perfect touch of glam.
6 | Carbon38 takara leggings – I love the deep wine color of these shine-finish leggings.
7 | Alo Yoga moto leggings – Get comfy with on-trend details in a seasonally appropriate hue.
8 | Carbon38 ion sports bra – A rich shade of green paired with edgy details. It’s gorgeous in wine red, too.

I love S’well bottles. I found some cheap knock-offs at Marshalls the other day. $13—and I swear it’s the same as my $40 bottle. I certainly like that price better.
Agent Athletica says
Oh wow that’s an awesome price! Nice find. I’ll have to check my Marshall’s next time I’m in that part of town.
carrie says
Man I really love those vimmia leggings but $123 is hard to stomach post Black Friday.
I still adore my vimmia python leggings and this is the first pair I’ve seen since those that I like as much! At least revolve didn’t really do Black Friday… then I would have really been kicking myself.
Agent Athletica says
Haha I know what you mean. And Revolve basically never has coupon codes either, sigh.
Carina says
I finally got my hands on some alala captain leggings but when I tried them on, the mesh hit me right behind my knees and was so not flattering… being short sucks sometimes :/
Agent Athletica says
Ahhh that’s a bummer! :( Sorry they didn’t work, I feel your being short pain.

Here is my review of my recent Alala purchases. I am 5’1, 32C, 26, 34, XS in pretty much all Alala tops and bottoms, 4 in Lulu tops and 2-4 in Lulu bottoms. Keep in mind that I have tons of Lulu, Alala and other athletic wears, so I am extremely selective.
The keepers:
1. Shadow Dolman Hoodie in Charcoal XS. So stylish and soft – one of my favorite Alala pieces for sure. I am wearing it to work today :).
2. Captain Crop in White Palm XS. Silk fabric and gorgeous print. It does fit a little larger than my other XS Alala bottoms though. I don’t know how I missed it when it came out this summer. The silvery color makes it perfect for holiday season too. I packed it for tonight’s boot camp!
The rest:
1. Run Crew in White S. While I love the fabric and style, I don’t think white is a good choice for me. May get it in black. Definitely size up though.
2. Storm Poncho in Army XS. Love the color and the soft cotton fleece fabric but a bit overwhelming for my petite frame. Easily size down. I am sure it gets plenty of love from people who are talker than me!
3. City Puffer Jacket in Silver XS. Love the warmth but it is boxy on me :(.
4. Sherpa Vest in XS. It is not as substantial as I would have liked. I also wish that it had front closure so it does not pucker out.
5. Liquid tight in burgundy XS (from NM). Love the look but it feels tighter than my other XS bottoms and the fabric is a bit stiff and revealing for me.
Overall I loved most of them but we are all limited by what we were born with :).
carrie says
oh fun! thanks for reviewing!!!
i too am planning to return the sherpa vest. the S is better than the XS that i tried previously but it still just doesn’t hang well on my body. I’m not sure exactly why. i also agree that it is a bit thinner than a typical sherpa material (which could be good or bad depending on what one is going for).
i love the city puffer jacket (black). however, i also just purchased a SAM freestyle jacket in navy that i love too… so I’m still waffling.
i had bad luck in general with bras – i bought 3 to try and will have to return all 3. but i also had a surprise win with the cool down tee. i threw it in my cart at the last minute and i like it so much i might get it in the other color! i wish they had an “order extra things for 40% off” deal for cyber week (although it’s probably better that they do not).
P.S. I also ordered some of the c38 RUN:WAY stuff that I had been eyeing. The Sia dress is probably my favorite thing from all of Black Friday. I also love the grey sweatpants. Does anyone know the website for the actual RUN:WAY brand? I can’t find it anywhere on google. I would love to see what else the brand makes.
WA says
got and love the cool down tee, but i expected as much, as i’m still obsessed with my fractal tee from like three years ago. i’m wearing it right now, actually. (the spring version, which i also have, is not my favorite material. the autumn one is glorious.)
and WAIT. did you hear about the girlfriend collective?! instead of traditional marketing, they’re using their marketing budget to give people free black (eco-friendly recycled-water-bottle) leggings. apparently they’re so damn confident in them that they think word of mouth will be more effective than MPUs.
carrie says
What?!?! Just signed up!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
And they plant baby trees to offset their carbon footprint. Love it.
Agent Athletica says
Yes I’ve seen GF Collective! I suspect their “shipping” cost is really just their cost of manufacturing, since it’s like $20 if I remember correctly. Still, I do like the idea a lot. I didn’t pull the trigger on it because I don’t really need another pair of black leggings, even if they’re cheap. The reviews I’ve seen have been quite positive though. I believe they’re planning to debut a whole collection soon, so I might try them then if there are some styles I like. I like their transparency/social responsibility, since that’s something I think isn’t strong in the active space.
WA says
Yeah I imagine they cover their costs. That said, I pay $20 for shipping to Europe from Werkshop, and $65 for Alala (okay I don’t pay the Alala – I order from UK stockists – but that’s what they charge). I paid $19.95 for Girlfriend Collective.
I typically shy away from gimmicky stuff, but reading about this makes it seem legit and eco-conscious, so it seems worth a shot, for people who have failed to purchase any actual plain black leggings in the last five years.
I appreciate that you didn’t though, AA. Cheap is still expensive for something you don’t need.
Agent Athletica says
Wow, that’s so impressive that it was $20 even to Europe! I definitely wouldn’t have guessed that price would be valid for anything but the US. Good on them!
carrie says
It’s actually $20 because they ship direct from Vietnam. So it’s 20 to the US or Europe or anywhere else in the world (at least that’s my understanding from their website).
Sara says
Um, I need black leggings! Any one out there try on GF Collective yet? Sizing issues here ;)
Thank you for the heads up. I agree w/ AA re: transparency/best practices are lacking in the activewear market.
Also, just want to say Thank Y’all for reviews/input etc on Alala products & especially to AA for your reviews! Based on your comments about Alala running tight in the arms, I sized up in the fractal raglan & tho its a lil’ boxy in the torso, I don’t have a flat tummy these days so it works. Am impressed w/ the weight – expected it to be thinner but the fabric has a really nice “hand”. This was my first Alala purchase. Very happy :)
Agent Athletica says
Hooray, welcome to the Alala dark side–haha. :)
Re: GF Collective, I’ve read the waist runs a bit small for some people, but that’s pretty much all I know.
Agent Athletica says
I’ve been watching the RUN:WAY stuff like a hawk too! I really want the genesis hoodie but am waiting for it to restock. I, too, tried to stalk them on Google to see the rest of their collection but couldn’t find them! They must be really new. I LOVE the new cashmere cardi that C38 added but wish there was a slightly lighter shade (like cement rather than coal) because of the dog hair issue. Anyway, I’m definitely going to try to try something from their collection so I’ll share if I do!
carrie says
That’s funny – the Genesis hoodie was the other Run:way item I ordered. They didn’t have S or M during the black friday sale but I ordered the L since I wanted it oversized and the reviews said the tops run small. It was indeed too big, but just last night the M came in stock and they are exchanging it for free so I still get the 20% off. woop woop.
Agent Athletica says
Sweet!!! How was the fabric/feel?
carrie says
I really liked the fabric. It was very soft and felt high quality feeling, although IMO sweatshirt fabric is always hard to really evaluate until you wear/wash it. The zipper details on all of the pieces are just great. The hardware is slightly rosey gold and the zippers are high quality with soft seams on the inside so that they aren’t irritating (eg, on the shoulders of the genesis hoodie). The only weird thing was the wrist cuffs and thumb holes on the genesis hoodie were HUGE. Not a huge deal, but just kinda strange. It was a size large, but I wouldn’t think that the wrist cuff size would vary a lot across sizes??
Oh and for anyone curious about the sweatpants, I was very unsure about the high waistedness of them. BUT, they look tres chic. The high waist totally works… I almost feel like you could tuck a shirt into them and actually look cool and not like a weirdo.
Agent Athletica says
Thanks for sharing your reviews! I’ve tried almost everything on your list so it’s interesting to hear your take, especially since we’re pretty close to the same size. I agree that the white shadow feel a touch bigger–I feel like a lot of prints lately have felt that way. I think the new fabric they use has a bit more stretch? I’m not sure. I also agree that the liquid fabric is a bit revealing since the shine fabric tends to accentuate shadows (the black hides that a little better than the burgundy), but I didn’t find it stiff at all so it’s interesting that you did. I’m gald the charcoal fabric is soft–I’m looking forward to my flyweight tee arriving in the same fabric. Thanks again!

Drooling over both the Zella and Alo shades of green! So pretty… Time to get myself a Christmas present I suppose ;)
Agent Athletica says
Yes, I’m not big on bright green but I loooove that green!

I just received my alala black friday haul and I must say, as usual, your reviews and the AA commenters here were on point!
I haven’t bought anything in a while from alala since I am 2-months post-partum, but I just picked up the everyday cardigan, some captain ankle tights, and the embossed edge ankle tights. The cardigan is SO SO SOFT and the tights fit like a glove! I can’t wait to wear them to my next workouts!!! I am so excited that alala has expanded their stylings and prints every year while keeping their quality! (My alala collection started in 2014!)
Thanks for this community and for all that you do!
Agent Athletica says
Yay, so glad you found some winners!!! :) I haven’t tried the edge tights yet, but I’m thinking I need to soon!
