It’s time to introduce another new brand: ADAY. Launched in 2015, ADAY’s ethos is similar to many brands I talk about around here: they want to make active clothing that transitions easily from gym to street.
What I like about ADAY is how they effortlessly blend modern, minimal, and feminine motifs. They use subdued neutrals and a lot of loose fits to create a downtown chic vibe that reflects their connection to London and New York.
I decided to try out their throw and roll leggings, priced at $125. I had seen articles touting a 2000-person waitlist and a 4-time sellout, so I decided it was basically my duty to investigate the hype. Getting these leggings currently operates on a preorder basis; I ordered mine in August and they took about 6 weeks to arrive. They’re now backed up til December, so expect a similar wait time.
Here are my thoughts on ADAY’s flagship leggings.
Side note before I jump in: Saks and Bloomingdale’s are both having friends and family sales right now! Of note, you can get Koral’s mystic capris for $66 (one of my favorites and VERY worth that price), Alo’s popular moto leggings for $83, and new season Alala gear for 25% off.
It’s hard for me to resist a rose gold detail, so I admit that’s a big part of what sold me on these leggings. I love the zip detail. The zippers are actually fully functional and open to pockets. The extra fabric for the pockets adds a slight bit of bulk to the front thigh, but nothing too bothersome. There’s also a nice side contrast detail and a contrasting shine-finish waistband. Fun little detail: the right side panels is a slit pocket! It’s large enough to comfortably fit my iPhone 6, and may fit larger phones as well. The left side panel, however, is sewn closed.
One thing that makes ADAY’s leggings unusual is that they used bonded seams. This gives the leggings a little bit of an avant garde twist. Sometimes bonded seams can feel stiff, but I thought these seams felt totally comfortable. All the seams looked very securely finished. The waistband, inner thigh, and crotch/bum midline seams are not bonded, but are overlocked instead (i.e,. not flat-seamed).
The rise is medium, although considering that most rises on leggings have been creeping higher, these might feel low by comparison. The back rise is a bit higher so it offers good bum coverage. Plus, they do make a very similar design in a higher waist, so you’ve got options. The waistband has an elastic insert at the top that helps keep the leggings up, since there is no drawstring. In addition to the contrast finish, I like the details on the waistband: diagonal accent seams and a subtle embroidered A logo. The designers did a lovely job of adding charming and functional details throughout these leggings.
The fabric is a smooth-faced, medium-weight fabric with a decidedly technical feel. It’s neither silky nor cottony and is in more of a “none of the above” category. It has a lot of stretch and light-to-medium compression. Coverage is good, though I could see a tiny bit of show-through in a squat or bend. I’d call these 90% opaque.
I ordered a size XS, but in my opinion they run a bit big. I had a couple issues with the fit. You can see some general wrinkling all over the pants, but there were a couple of problem spots. If you look closely at the photos, you’ll notice that there’s some odd bunching/wrinkling underneath the bum. The fabric doesn’t quite sit flush here. The worst part about this is that it produces a slightly uncomfortable shifting and pulling sensation around my upper thighs and crotch when I walk around. Although the visual effect is subtle, the feeling was definitely noticeable.
You can also see a little bit of wrinkling around the front and back of the knee. Admittedly, that is more visual and usually not a huge deal. Another thing that isn’t a big deal but is worth noting is the stacking at the ankle. These are quite long, so there was quite a lot of excess length on me, plus the ankles were also loose, which made the ankle stack appear even more dramatic. Basically, these were just a bit lumpy all over for me, as the photos show.
Interestingly, the models on the website have no such wrinkling issues, so it’s possible that sizing down could’ve taken care of most of these issues. But, since I was already wearing an XS, this was as good as it was gonna get for me.
Overall, these just didn’t conform to my body shape in the way that most leggings do. In particular, the odd fit around the low hip/thigh was the deal-breaker for me. I was really disappointed to have to send these back, because these leggings were otherwise so thoughtfully designed. I’d definitely consider giving ADAY another try in the future.
Fortunately, ADAY offers free shipping and free returns, so even though these didn’t work out, I didn’t lose anything by trying! If you’d like to try out ADAY for yourself, you can find the throw and roll leggings here, or browse their whole collection.

What top (tank?) are you wearing in the photos? I love the color!
Agent Athletica says
Bumble berry cool racerback (lululemon). :)

I feel like the ones they made for the models were custom made size XXS and hemmed. They look like totally different leggings! Unless those girls are 7 feet tall?? Weird.
Anyways… these had a lot of potential but I agree they are kinda “whomp whomp” IRL.
More money for something else exciting!
Thanks for taking one for the team and trying them.
Agent Athletica says
Yeah, it’s odd that they look so different! That said, I did notice that the ankles are sort of baggy on the models as well. Hm.
Linda says
Too weird around the crotch area. Bad design, pure and simple.
shavarama says
totally agree. it’s a bad look!
Agent Athletica says
I’m wondering if the fabric may be part of the issue. If it doesn’t stretch or mold properly, then the cut and the fabric together could produce this kind of issue.

Your review is spot on. I tried Aday too. I got the brake on leggings first and the fit on those were really terrible. I then got these and couldn’t figure out the fit. I am a 4 in lulu tights and I couldn’t even get the XS on my calf. Once I struggled to get them on, I had the weird same wrinkling in the front. I was told that this is their style and that after a few wears they mold. I unfortunately didn’t return and never wear them now.
I am not sure how the tights look so good on the models. Always makes me want to retry.
Agent Athletica says
That’s so strange that they were so tight on you! I’d expect my pair could definitely fit a lulu 4. I’m not sure how they look so different on the models either! Too bad. :( I didn’t really want to take the risk that they would mold to my body, since $125 was a pretty big gamble!
BD says
At first glance those are some cool leggings, but I can see what you mean about the fit problems. And I agree with Linda that there’s something not right with the crotch area.
But hey, thanks for bringing this brand to my attention! Never heard of them before now.
Agent Athletica says
Yes, they’ve definitely got potential! :) I hope I have better luck in the future with their designs, because they’re awfully pretty.
CYW says
In the first couple pics, it also shows the outline of your underwear? :/
Agent Athletica says
Could be? I’m not sure, since I have no idea what underwear I was wearing that day, lol!
Mia says
Just a heads up! Alala is having a flash sale right now on full priced items – 20% with SALE20 code. I’ve been eyeing up those All Day Tights… :)
Agent Athletica says
Thanks for the heads up! Included that in my sale post after your comment, as you probably already saw. ;)
Emily says
Do you think the zippers would be annoying while doing yoga?
Agent Athletica says
Yes, front zippers like this usually aren’t good for yoga, especially for things like bow pose. The zippers on these leggings are pretty thick, so you would definitely feel them. Hope that helps!

Hi! I was just googling reviews for these leggings and stumbled upon this post. I am so disappointed in my Throw & Rolls :( They took months to arrive–I initially ordered M, way too big, went through a lengthy exchange process for a S only to find those backordered, etc etc–and the Small still feels too loose in the waist, slides down on me, has weird bunching issues, AND–worst of all–they are COMPLETELY see through!! They are practically as sheer as pantyhose on me. Such a heartbreaker. I don’t get the hype and was wondering if mine were cut from a bad batch of fabric.
Somewhat comforted to hear that others have been underwhelmed as well. Thanks for your review!
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Ahh, sorry to hear they were such a bust for you. :( But, I’m glad I could help you feel a little bit less crazy. :) Although mine weren’t as problematic as yours, I wasn’t totally on board with the hype either.

I bought the Aday jogging pants in xs, which look fairly flattering, however, they would look much better if the proportions were more suitable to a shorter built – and at 5’4 I am not tiny. I tried the leggings described here as well and had the same fit problems as you have. The leggings could be very flattering but are far too long and proportioned to fit a woman at least 2 inches taller.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Bummer, sorry to hear they weren’t quite right for you either. :\ Thanks for the info on the joggers though! If I try the brand again, maybe I’ll go for a top instead since it seems like their bottoms are more for taller ladies.

I placed an order with ADAY a few months ago after seeing several of their ads on facebook. I was super excited when I received the package but the fit just really did not work for me. I ordered both leggings and a top and both had fit and construction problems. I reached out for a return label within minutes of trying on the items. The weeks after were probably the most terrible customer experiences I have ever received from any company, ever! They did not refund my money as promised and kept trying to accuse me of things. I have tried to leave reviews on facebook but they keep deleting. Please, do yourself a favor and DO NOT SHOP WITH ADAY! I was hesitant before I placed my order and really wish I had seen a review before so I wouldn’t have had to go through this terrible process.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
So sorry to hear about that! :( I didn’t have any problems with my return, fortunately. Depending on the time frame, you may be able to file a chargeback with your credit card to at least get your $$ back.

AMEN!!!

I have tried to return these but their # is inoperable and they don’t return email…. would NOT recommend.
