As of tonight, the Olympics are officially here!!
I LOVE the Olympics, especially the Summer Games.
My first memory of the Olympics is when I was a young girl watching the Magnificent Seven win the gold in team gymnastics. In the 20 years(!!) since then, gymnastics has always been my absolute favorite event. It’s my sister’s favorite too, and is something we’ve always enjoyed together, both on TV and for several years at an actual gym. She’s flying out from Virginia to visit me, and we timed it so we’d be able to watch the gymnastics events live together. Now, I’m doubly excited to watch this year’s events.
Besides my longstanding fondness for gymnastics, the Olympics always inspire me as an athlete. Seeing the dedication and determination radiating out of hundreds of athletes from around the world always rekindles my desire to strive for greatness.
When I think of the Olympics, I think of bold, sporty geometry and strong (and patriotic!) colors. Here are my picks for channeling your inner Olympian.

P.S. You nearly gave me a heart attack when you pointed out that Kerry Strug landing perfectly on that one ankle was 20 years ago. Good gracious time flies.
I actually went so far as to sign up for cable for 1 month only just so I could watch the Olympics! I was not taking ANY chances. Thankfully I found a cable company with no contract and no cancellation fees, but it still wound up being an expensive month, haha.

My first memory of the olympics was watching Nadia Comaneci score perfect 10’s for the first time in history. :O I too have always been a fan of the gymnastics portion since then. Now I really love to watch the swim events since I ended up with competitive swimmers in the household and understand the type of work that goes into that sport. Doing what they do in the time they do it in is nothing short of amazing.

Love it! I’m bracing myself for another 20 years when some grown woman tells me their first memory is watching Simone Biles (inevitably) blow everyone out of the water, haha. Swimming is one of my other favorite sports to watch too, though admittedly I have a pretty flimsy understanding of the sport. It’s just always really exciting!

I don’t know if you get H&M in the states but its a British/European (Swedish) high st brand which won the chance to kit out the Swedish Olympic team this year and also is selling activewear inspired by their team kit. Thought it was interesting as they haven’t done Olympic team kit before!
Yeah we actually do get H&M here! That’s really neat that they got the chance to design for Sweden and that they passed some of that along to consumers, too.
I have to say if I were an American I would be buy those Alala “SE” USA Captian Tights and what a crazy in a good way print on those Carbon 38’s, wow.
I love watching the Olympics too especially some good old rivalry between Canada and the US! One of the favourite sports to watch is the diving.
Oh yes! I’m a little tempted to get the USA pair, buuut they’re so similar to the ones I already have. Speaking of diving, I was about to get up from my computer to watch the platform synchronized diving that’s on right now. That’s always really neat to watch!
