Finally! This week’s what we love is up. Next week is the first week of the official fall season for lululemon, so I’m sure things are a bit crazy up at HQ. Katelin notes that there is a holiday Monday, and that she doesn’t have confirmation that all the pieces here will be landing next week exactly. She also says she’ll try to add some more pieces Tuesday!
At any rate, let’s jump into the first look at the new prints and colors coming our way this fall!!
Cranberry is our first new color for fall/August. This is similar to deepest cranberry from last fall, but as the name implies, this one’s a bit lighter. This is the closest things we’ve had to a true red in a while since it’s not orangey, though it’s still not the fire-engine-red a lot of people seem to be hoping for.
The other big theme this month: butterflies! Butterflies everywhere! This seems to be a common thread for lulu right now, since the Wanderlust collection was butterfly-inspired, and the SeaWheeze collection looks like it’s going to include some insect action as well. The butterflies are out in full force on the new so fly butterfly print. The print also includes pizazz, so we might see a return of that color (which was last released in summer ’13). The define jacket looks a lot like net pop, though it’s hard to see what this pattern really looks like in this photo.
The next cranberry item will be a heathered cool racerback. This one looks awfully similar to jeweled magenta, so this doesn’t tempt me too much. Side by side, I’m sure JM would appear much more pink, but still, probably too close to tempt me.
Alongside butterflies, looks like we might have some snake prints coming our way too. I actually kind of like the snake print on this new pipe dream blue swiftly, crazed look from the model notwithstanding. I’ll be keeping my eye out for these. Lastly, the same butterfly print from the pace rival skirt above will come in a monotone fatigue green version. Fatigue has been on repeat a lot lately, but it’s a pretty decent neutral-ish color, so that’s not totally a bad thing, especially since it goes nicely with the more earthy feel of what we’re seeing for fall so far.
Overall, I’m not swooning over lululemon’s fall offerings just yet, but I’m sure there’s plenty left to see! I wouldn’t complain about a break anyway. :)

Fall already? I felt like we never had summer since the colors were so dark this season.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Odd that you’d say that, cause I thought the summer colors was really nicely bright without being overbearingly neon. For example: bali, iris flower, grapefruit, pistachio, jeweled magenta, etc.

I thought most of the color palette was really dark…. I dunno, I thought last year was brighter. Yah there was some sprinkle of color but for the most part I thought there was a lot of black, grey and muted colors throughout the season. Just looking at the What’s New for last week everything is mostly pale and dark. I found myself looking at Ivivva a lot this summer.

Is the hi rise WUP a new thing or did they just rename the rolldowns?
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Hmmm I actually didn’t notice that til you pointed it out! I’m not sure if or how it’ll be different from rolldowns.
Kathleen says
The hi-rise has a little pocket sewn into the inside of the waistband, and the cut has been cinched in a little at the top of the waistband — to nix the baggy top on shorter waisted and/or tiny waisted people when their roll downs were worn as a high waist. I mean who wears roll downs to .. Roll them down? Not I, said the cat. :) I’ve seen the pocket and it looks nice, glad you don’t have to sacrifice a WB pocket for a high rise anymore ??

Thanks for the info Kathleen! :)

So pumped for cranberry. What a gorgeous color. Can’t wait to see what’s offered in it. The heathered crb doesn’t tempt me at all though. Also like the new swiftly pattern. Butterflies though? Ehhhh, no.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
I keep going back and forth on cranberry. It’s gorgeous and saturated but I just don’t know how well I’d be able to match it with what I have. Shades like bumble berry that have a little more fuschia in them seem easier for me to work with. Also, agree that the butterflies aren’t tempting for me either!
runs in skirts says
I like the Pace Rival butterfly print but yet a part of me wishes it was just a bit more of an abstract print of butterfly vs. a more wallpaper like print.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Agreed! As someone else pointed out, the print as it is looks a bit tween-y.
Laura says
I hope it’s not a pipe dream of me to wish the snake theme would manifest itself in the form of the serpent speeds from overseas.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Pipe dream? Pun intended? :) I would love the serpent speeds, too.
Jenn @ Running on Lentils says
Not feeling any of these. I think I like Bumble Berry much better. And the butterflies just seems like a print for tweens. Curious what else will be rolled out & a little sad that Lulu, Athleta & Beyond Yoga all seem to have the same fall color palette. Someone please release a pretty emerald green!
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Yes, I think the “reds” that are more fuschia-toned are much easier to match for both our color palettes. Bumble is the perfect example! I can’t promise I’ll get *nothing* in cranberry, though, I’ll just have to see what comes out. Also, totally agree with you that the butterfly print looks tweeny. Not for me.

I’ll probably get the heathered cranberry CRB. I’ve lived in the heathered poseidon and JM CRBs in the summer. I know people think they are thin and scratchy but they soften up completely after a wash.
The butterfly pace rival is cute but might be too young a print for me. I do like it though. I am excited to see what Lulu has in store for fall; it looks like their designers have stepped it up a notch with pattern and texture development.
And just a quick review on my order from last week:
Diversity bag – better than I thought it would be. It’s a good size, has a ton of compartments and I can stash everything I need to separately without having to root around for things. I think it will be a very handy weekend bag for me.
Nook tank – it’s cute on but not sure that it’s $52 cute. This will probably go back.
WAFS SE WUCs – I normally shy away from light coloured bottoms but these are utterly fantastic. They aren’t see through, they’re soft and reasonably compressive and the seaming is just super flattering on me. Total keep.
Pretty Plume SE HTPs – I was looking forward to these the most and they were a complete disappointment. The fabric, while completely opaque, is like a weird mix of luon and luxtreme. It’s quite compressive and felt like I was wearing Spanx (plus I think they ran a touch small). I felt hot just wearing them, I can’t imagine doing an actual workout in them. The special seaming/design at the bottom felt bulky and I feel like the “mesh” they used (looks more like fishing line) would probably not hold up well over time. I love the print but these are going back.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Thanks for your thoughts! You’re one of the only people I’ve heard speak ill of the PP high times, though I did hear a few other people say they were a tad small, so I don’t think that’s just you/your pair.
Agree with you that the designers have gotten it together as far as prints go. Sure, there are still some misses (like the butterfly print), but I’m really glad to see they’ve branched out of their rut of florals and camos. There seems to be real creativity behind some of the recent patterns, and I can appreciate that even if I don’t love the print itself.

Cranberry has potential but I’m not ready for fall colors yet. The butterfly prints are an easy pass for me. I’m with you, AA – I could use a break after the pretty plume crops are uploaded, anyway. I ended up returning the Diversity bag – not worth the price for a variety of reasons IMO. My store either hasn’t received the pretty plume WUP/Cs yet or they were already sold out – I was hoping to try them this weekend but no such luck.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
I don’t think most (US) stores have gotten pretty plume yet, so you may still have a shot!
