Here’s my last batch of try-ons for now! A couple of these are styles that have been around a little while that I just got a chance to try out. For reviews of other newer releases, see part 1 and part 2 of this batch of try-ons.
Reviewed in this post:
Pleat to street skirt ii – white
All sport support tank – deep navy/iridescent
Jet crops slim – black
Street to studio pants – regal plum
Exquisite tank ii – jeweled magenta
Inspiration tank – crosscourt petal clarity yellow
For reference, I am 5’3″ and typically wear a lulu size 2.
Pleat to street skirt ii – white
I tried on the pleat to street last year, but for some reason, this year’s seems to fit a little better. I’m not sure what changed between the pleat to street and pleat to street ii and if that has anything to do with it. The pleats stayed relatively flush. The one downside to this is that if you bend even a little bit, it shows the shorts underneath. It’s pretty short, even on someone petite like me.
All sport support tank – deep navy/iridescent
I liked the look of this tank when it first came out, and the fit seems to deliver, too. The slightly loose body is forgiving while still being flattering. The attached bra offered plenty of support and coverage. I know this design doesn’t appeal to everyone, but if you do like it, it’s a great tank. Personally, I’ve been shying away from built-in bra tanks in favor of separates, but if I found one of these for a steal in a color I liked, I might pick one up.
Jet crops slim – black
I’m a bit late to the party with the jet crops, but so many people had said they were very flattering in the slim version. The back was nice and the cut strikes a nice balance between relaxed and tailored.
Unfortunately, they bunched at the crotch in a very awkward way. I’d heard of some others having this issue, so I know it’s not just me. That said, this apparently doesn’t happen with everyone, so I’m not sure what about the pants or about a person’s body type dictates whether these work out.
Street to studio pants – regal plum
I’m definitely late to the party on street to studio pants. This style has been out for a while, but it was my first time actually bothering to try it on. I thought they might be a nice casual summer style and I’ve seen pics of others really rocking them. Unfortunately, I thought they looked just awful on me. The slight crotch drop looked pretty weird, and the thighs were too big even though the hips and waist were ok. The proportions of the leg taper doesn’t quite work out either. All in all, these did nothing for me.
Exquisite tank ii – jeweled magenta
The support on this is really low, probably because the cutouts are where some of the band would be. Coverage is on the lower side of medium for me. The jeweled magenta is a beautiful color, and the neckline and straps are very feminine and pretty. The body is fitted, but not skin-tight. I didn’t find that the cut-outs were restricting or pinched at all, though I do have a small rib cage for my size. I like luxtreme on tanks like this one, since I feel like it’s a bit cooler than luon. This would be a nice hot yoga option.
Inspiration tank – crosscourt petal clarity yellow
This tank fits great. It seems to be a slightly slimmer fit on me than some of the stock photos online for some reason. The length is a bit shorter than a CRB, so it’s just right for someone on the short side like me. The support felt medium to me, and the coverage was high enough to keep everything covered, but not too high. I do prefer a slightly wider-set scoop at the neckline than this one, but that’s just a matter of personal preference. The main issue is that I felt like this was a bit of a boob-smasher. There seems to be more uni-boob than usual going on, and overall it just didn’t seem all that feminine or flattering in the bust area. I think the neckline might be contributing to this look, but I’m not sure. Other than that, it’s a pretty solid tank.
Gretchen Braun says
Love the inspiration tank! I have one CRB but it’s way too long and rides up a lot when I run or do yoga. I’ll have to check this one out! It looks great on you!
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Yeah, I think the length strikes a nice middle ground that isn’t bunchy on us shorter folk. :)
Soleil says
The inspiration tank looks awesome on you! better than on the lulu models!
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Aw thanks! I was pleasantly surprised.
Mindy Gardner says
Thank you for these reviews! I was thinking of trying to slims, buuut I’m gonna skip them. I tried some dance studio pants on the other day and even the 2’s were huge (I’m a pretty solid 4, too!). I guess I’m just destined for tights. Oh well! All the tanks look fabulous on you!!
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Yeah, I’ve never had very good luck with lulu’s non-tight styles (except the om pants the other day…somehow…). They just somehow don’t seem to be proportioned quite right for my body. DSPs look dumb on me, too.
Mindy Gardner says
Oops, the* not to, ha. And omg…the om pants. I looked like a straight up genie in them. I was in the dressing room like ‘y I no look like AA in these’
Katy | Lulu & the Box says
The Street to Studio Pant can be a total hit or miss – crazy to see how much the wearer’s height can affect the entire look of these. I have a pair from last year, and they come up so much higher on me!
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Yeah I’m sure being tall would help a lot!!
JadziaDax says
I love the jet crops! the slim version is much better than the regular. I will say I have a bigger booty and I think that stops them from bunching in the front.
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
The jet crops were actually pretty fitted across my butt, yet still bunched in the front. So, not sure what was up with that.
Le says
I recently got 2 pairs of Jet Crop slims in Luxtreme and I ONLY wear them pulled up like capries. They do bunch up on frint a little bit ,but I think it’s part of the “deal” since they are a nicer version of sweats! I’m very happy with them, they are great alternative to WUC, WUP and so on. Can be dressed up or down
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Yeah that was the hope with the crops, but it seemed a bit too much on me. I thiiink the ones I tried on were luon (don’t remember exactly), so I wonder if the luxtreme version would’ve looked different.
Palmtree says
That crosscourt petal inspiration tank looks amazing on you!
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Thanks! :)
angeline says
thanks for trying on the new pleat to street skirt. Definitely looks better than the first batch :) ahha maybe i’ll get it this time.
Was the all sport support tank TTS? I read some reviews online that ppl had to size up (due to the bra) hence I did not get it ( I think all the colours that I liked are now gone – the wallet is thankful though)
I agree with the other readers. The inspiration tank looks good on you! :D
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Yes I found the all sport TTS, though the bra was pretty snug. I found it comfortable, though. I have a pretty small rib cage for my size, so I’m not sure if that had anything to do with it being comfortable on me but not as good on others.
Jane_Doe says
The jet crops slim in luxtreme were puffy on me too, I’m trying out the jet crops trousers to see if there’s any difference. I caved and bought the pleat to street skirts in Poseidon and iris flower, now I need to pick tennis. :)
I did venture out of my usual cardio workouts and tried out the leg press and assist dip machines. They are challenging but fun!
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Changing up workouts is always fun! Those 2 pleat to street colors are so cute, good choices. :)
Mrs. Angela Green says
Your blog is hands down my favorite Lulu blog. I love your Try On & Lulu Problems posts. I get so excited when I see new ones posted!
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
Aw thanks Angela! :)
Leigh says
Street to studios don’t work for me either. I’m not sure what it is, too much fabric on the waistband maybe?
Suzanne | Agent Athletica says
I think the long crotch and the big thighs were what killed it for me. Not sure though.
