No new stuff to note from the Hong Kong website this week, but here’s what’s new in Europe:
I knew these fatigue chevron shuffle/split pea speed shorts had to be coming after the run times uploaded last week. These are pretty cool and I’m sure they will be popular, but I will be passing because they don’t fit my color palette.
3 new cabin yogi wrap colors: heathered dune, dark wren, and medium grey/aged moss.
Bonus: I’m totally digging this solid menthol energy bra instead of just the stripes that had shown up in Aus before.

Do you know when the caspian blue swiftly tank was uploaded in US? I’m in Canada, hoping we will get it also. Thanks.

I ordered it last week, and I think it was actually the week before that when it was uploaded. I had been waiting to see if it would arrive in stores prior to pulling the trigger.
On a different note, I’m trying to “tame” my lulu collection. I have items that I’ve only worn 3 or less times in a year, or 3 or less in a 3-6 month period (wear/not wear wasn’t dependent on the season). So, by the AA 7 questions to ask before getting rid of, I guess I’d hang onto them because I’ve worn them within 3 months. But if they’ve only been worn a few times does that qualify as not wearing enough to justify the closet real estate? At what point do you say “enough crops”?

I think where you draw the line is basically at the meeting point of your financial situation, your storage capacity, and simply personal preference. And, you never want to feel like your stuff owns you. For me personally, my finances are tight which means I have to resell often to fund newer/better purchases, and even though I have plenty of space in my current apartment, I simply don’t *like* having a lot of stuff. So, that makes my stash pretty small all the time. If I had deeper pockets, I still expect I would never exceed 15-20 of anything (crops, shorts, etc), and probably much less than that for most things. That’s just me though. :)

Thank you for your response. I don’t like having too much stuff, and right now I feel like my lulu collection owns me. I also could use the extra cash from selling:)

You only need enough for a week or two and then do laundry. :)

So true! My goal is to sell so that what I have left is only what I need.

i’m doing this right now (and my “collection” is large enough to open several lulu pop-ups, no joke, been addicted for over 8 years – i’ve literally sold thousands and thousands of dollars worth and have so much more to go – but baby steps. the good news (for me at least) is that quality is hit or miss not like the old days were i “needed” so much of the pretty like every week – good luck with your thinning out process!!
Anonymous says
In thinning your collection, how do you base your decision to sell, e.g. Items worn fewer than 3 times in 3 months are fair game?
michelle says
yes that’s one factor, and i have so many items that i’ve worn once or never, (not because they are not great – just b/c i have too many) – at the end of the day i wear a few core items – the rest once, twice (and that’s it) i’m also a victim of buying things i like in every color – i don’t need 105 cool racer backs for example (pls don’t judge ;-) – acquired over 8 years, but still, i have bags and bags to sell, getting thru 1 bag at a time – this year granted it’s early i have bought 1 item, my goal is to buy less than 5 lulu items this year – try to visit this amazing blog w/o being too tempted… hope that helps!

That’s a great way to start, one bag at a time. I’ve been selling off items for about 3 months and I’m working through the things that don’t fit well, or aren’t as flattering as I had originally thought. When they are gone, then I can look at things I do love, but that are duplicates 5 times over! It’s a process! We should start a forum for pricing advice, and encouragement! :)
anonymous says
That’s a great strategy, too! AA has a great point, which applies to the duplicates issue, and that is not having so much stuff. Better to have fewer items to love and wear:)

i so agree, we should have a subforum, i feel better having read these reply posts and my best friend echoed what someone said above about if you have less then you really use what you have, for example, i love love love the free to be wild, but do i really need to get every single color + 2 white and 2 black? um no, so i returned the ones i could and listed the others new with tags, i have 4 and that is plenty (given my lulu bra sitch!). i know other people are into say make-up or nail polish but for me – each time i work thru a bag i feel so light and i still have so so much that i truly love, at some point it will be hard to let things go, but why have it just b/c it’s a known unicorn but i’m not using it. i put my lulu sales money in a separate account and i seriously can not believe how much i’ve made – thank God lulu has a strong resale market. thanks everyone here for such a great discussion!

That’s awesome you’ve made so much money (and consequently saved), and that you had the resolve to return the FTB Wilds. I’m down to the stuff I love, but I’m sell not wearing all of it frequently enough to justify it. As a friend told me-there’s always something I love just a little bit less! I love all 14 pairs of crops, but I don’t need them. I only seem to wear the same few over and over anyway. But, it is baby steps, and each step forward is huge! I agree that the responses have been so helpful and reassuring.
J in TO says
That’s great you’ve made a lot of your money back! I can identify with wanting the unicorns. I do feel that there are less unicorns than there used to be, so that helps quell the buying frenzy for me a little. I also buy several colours of a style if I like something. I do that with non lulu stuff too sometimes. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your insight! No judgment here:) I have a similar problem! I have stuff I have never worn but bought because I got caught in the hype. I have things I’ve only worn 3 times in the past year. If I really loved it, I think I would’ve made room in my rotation for it. Even if it’s a rare or vintage item, it’s taking up space, money, and contributing to mental clutter. I’d wear more of what I loved if I limited my choices. I think looking at number of wears over the past year covers all seasons and activities; 6 months if I am stricter. Less than 5 wears should go, but leave myself enough run tights, luon crops, and luxtreme crops to last until laundry. Pullovers, half-zips, sports bras, and cool racer backs will be harder, but I should go by the same less than 5 wears rule. Rest goes to eBay! I hope this helps inspire your thinning process:)

I’m not sure exactly when they were uploaded. The other commenter’s guess is as good (or better) as mine. :)

Totally laughed out loud at your “What.” comments regarding that ridiculous short-waisted peplum thing. Maybe there was a ton of extra fabric for which they just could not otherwise find a better use…
Agent Athletica says
Beats the hell out of me. Some designs I look at and I can understand how it might’ve looked like a good design on paper but weird when executed. This is one I really don’t get….
Jenn @ Running on Lentils says
Oh, I really like the menthol energy bra too!
Agent Athletica says
I am all about menthol everything right now. I almost bought a menthol LS swiftly today but trying to be strong. Can’t really bring myself to pay $68, especially when I can’t wear them hiking. :
Jane_Doe says
I wish the chevron shuffle shorts would come in a black/white combi. That would be absolutely perfect. :) Agree, the menthol energy bra is gorgeous, now wishing it’ll come in the FTB as well. So many wishes.
Sammy B says
Totally agree, I wish the chevron shuffle was white/black. Just no love for fatigue green. And would love a menthol ftb, energy bra is too much support for me.
Samantha says
I got the cevron shuffle run times…they might be my all time fave shorts (for now ;) . Menthol everything is beautiful but the swiftlys are thin I need darker/heathered colors to conceal all my lumpy spots. Loving that aged moss yogi cabin. And the new wrap coming out (universal?) looks a lot like the live healthy (something like that) wrap from a few years ago, which is lovely!
