1/2 Zips Coming + The End of No Limits Tanks + More

August 7, 2014 / 8 Comments

britts+picks+aug+7

Some news and sneak peeks from Britt’s picks:

  • No limits tanks are being retired.  This comes as a bit of a surprise me.  People had been speculating whether they were on their way out (most stores had all NLTs on MD), but my guess had been that they were about to roll out a “No Limits Tank II”.  Guess not.  Thankfully, if you’re an NLT lover, they are plentiful on eBay and other resale sites!  Perhaps they weren’t selling well?  We’ll see what they come up with next.
  • As I mentioned the other day, wunder under crops are getting longer.  “Thanks to your feedback”–um, I still want to know whose feedback exactly?  There have been a few people who have praised the change, but it certainly doesn’t seem like the majority.  Sometimes I have to question their feedback system: they only hear about guests who are unhappy with something.  That is, they change things based on the vocal minority of unhappy customers, rather than getting the full story of just how many guests actually like it just the way it is.  Thankfully, with many other brands with great crops entering the fray, I don’t have to rely on lulu to be my one and only source of crops if the new length does in fact end up being rotten on me.
  • Also, note that the WUC will be coming in bordeaux.  I wonder if these are luxtreme or luon…
  • New gym to win duffel bag is coming in bordeaux sashiko star print.  Finally, Britt noted that even though something is “CAN only”, the US will get it eventually.  This was wise because a lot of weeks past where she’s noted “US only” or “CAN only”, there’s been an inevitable wave of hysteria.  Thanks for nipping that one in the bud, Britt.
  • Two half zips coming: miss misty pullover for rain, and a run for gold 1/2 zip that looks like a generic running PO.  The run for gold will also come in bumble berry, which we have a bonus pic of here:

This really stinks as I got into lulu because of the NLTs so I’m sad to see them go. :(

The Bordeaux WUC are luxtreme I believe. And I think they’re just trying something out with the new length. They’re still coming out with colors in the original length. Im with you, not sure who complained, but I do love the length of the high times crops (I’m 5’7), maybe I’ll love these too.

I know they’re making luxtreme WUC, but I’m wondering whether they’ll also be making luon. And if the luxtreme bordeaux are WUC II’s, they’d be the first luxtreme pair to be longer. I hope they’re just trying something out, like you said, time will tell…

I read an article talking about how lulu was being progressive in attempting to patent their designs. Obviously they are the target of lots of knockoffs, so brands like C9 at Target copy the designs of name brand stores. The NLT was specifically mentioned, as there are several brands (like C9), who have replicated it and only alter things like hem length. The article went on to mention how it is difficult to patent intellectual and artistic property, but maybe that is why they are discontinuing it? I have see the Target version of this tank for sure, which except for not being lulu colors was a dead ringer, and it doesn’t seem like something lulu would be keen on sharing.

Yes I remember seeing some articles about IP catfights over the NLT as well. Interesting thought that they might be moving away from it because it’s not their exclusive thing anymore. I’ll be interested to see what comes along as a replacement…

What Laura said makes sense. Bonus: I’ll have to check out Target! Lulu run pullovers don’t work for me. I’ll wait for a LS rulu top, which I’m sure will be coming.

I went to one of my local Lulu stores today and picked up the Right As Rain Jacket in Bordeaux. I’ve been wearing a 10-year-old, too-big LL Bean rain jacket, so I did not feel guilty about this purchase! I sized up for layering (plus the shoulders in my reg size were a little snug) and it still looks chic & not sloppy. Bordeaux Drama is such a gorgeous color and will look great paired with Cadet Blue. I also picked up the All Sport Bra (which I love) in Heathered Black since I’ll be able to wear that color with most things. They didn’t have any of the other new stuff in that I’m interested in, which is good for my wallet! I’ve already broken my no-buy oath, so I’m done for the month.

Sounds like you were long overdue for a replacement! Hopefully nothing else tempts you to break your shopping ban. I’m excited about rulu LS tops too! Love all things rulu, especially because it works really well for casual wear too.
