I have a pretty vast collection of shorts for summer, but they all have one problem: no pocket large enough for my phone. On short runs where I don’t have a pack, this creates a little bit of a conundrum.
Enter the pocket shorts. All the things you love about leggings with side pockets, but with an ultra summer-friendly inseam. Here’s how they stood up to the test.
Disclosure: these shorts were complimentary from K-Deer. All opinions are my own.
First up: the Sanibel print is soooo vibrant and beautiful in real life. The hues are totally in my wheelhouse: shades of pink and teal. Yes please! These are right at home in my closet. I like them best paired with bright white or teal tops. (They even match my socks!)
I’m wearing a size XS, my usual K-Deer size. Sizing runs true to size with plenty of stretch. The rise on these is just a little lower than K-Deer’s line of leggings. It’s still pretty high, hitting just below my belly button. I love the rise length for summer, since it provides comfortable, flattering coverage without being too high.
The material is the same as all of K-Deer’s other bottoms: similar to very thick tights or pantyhose with some moderate compression. It’s water-friendly, so these would work great for swim or other water sports where you want more coverage than a typical bikini bottom. These shorts passed the squat test beautifully and are 100% opaque for me.
Despite being short shorts, the side pocket is plenty roomy. The photos show my iPhone XS in the pocket with room to spare. I went on a couple of runs in these shorts with my phone in the side pocket and it worked great.

The photos above show a comparison of how they fit when I put them on versus how they naturally shifted after some movement. You can see they slide just a tiny bit, mostly toward the inside of my leg, but it maintains full coverage where it matters. Even after several miles of running, they didn’t ride up and show any cheek. The shifting is pretty minimal, so I’m totally happy with the coverage.
That said, if these are a little too short for you, K-Deer also offers their pocket shorts in a 5″ inseam. Note that the prints offered in the two lengths are different, but there’s good variety to choose from in both lengths.
All told, I absolutely love this new addition to my summer wardrobe. They’re perfect for super-hot days and the pocket makes them extra practical. I’ve had them for a few weeks, and I find myself reaching for them all the time. I would buy these in another print for sure.

Also wondering about your blog? Miss you! Hope all is okay and you are just fabulously busy with work promotions or traveling or having a baby or living in a cabin in the mountains with no WiFi or something. Hope you come back… even if you have a change in scope. There are so few bloggers that I don’t find annoying AF. We need you! Lol :)
